Blunham — Hambarn
Hambarn is the bigger of BADAC’s two Blunham stretches on the middle River Great Ouse, with around 70 permanent pegs. It’s a proper bream venue, with big shoals that can get on the munch and produce bags of 100lb.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a substantial managed stretch rather than an EA free fishery, run by Barnet and District Angling Club.
- Hambarn sits near Blunham, and forms part of roughly a mile of BADAC’s two Blunham Ouse stretches.
- Around 70 permanent pegs gives the place plenty of room, although the club also runs active matches here, usually using 12 to 15 pegs.
- The headline feature is the bream fishing. When the shoals are feeding, bags of 100lb are possible — proper feeder-fishing territory.
- Tench are another named target, while resident chub feed throughout the year and give you a chance of a cheeky bonus fish.
- Roach come into their own in late summer and early autumn, so that’s a handy window for a focused roach session.
- The facts don’t specify individual swim depths, flow patterns or named features, so it’s best not to assume every peg fishes the same.
- A feeder approach is the obvious starting point for the bream shoals. For roach and tench, keep things tidy and adapt to what the swim is showing you.
- Chub are present year-round, so a mobile approach around likely cover and steady water can be worth a go when you fancy a change from sitting it out.
- It’s clearly an actively managed club water, with Stuart Butterfield identified as the local organiser or bailiff contact for Hambarn fixtures and reports.
Methods: Feeder fishing is the obvious play when the bream shoals are feeding. For roach, tench and chub, keep the approach flexible and change gears with the season.
