R. Ouse, Bradwell

A tidy 400-yard run of the River Great Ouse, wrapped around Bradwell Lake and run by Milton Keynes Angling Association. It’s a silver-fish venue with proper bonus chub, perch and pike in the mix.

Run by Milton Keynes Angling Association (MKAA) · checked 10 Oct 2026

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This stretch sits within MKAA’s Bradwell complex, on the Upper Ouse bank adjoining the lake. A cracking little bit of river rather than a huge wandering venue.
  • Around 400 yards are included, with the river encircling or bordering Bradwell Lake. That gives the place a nicely defined feel and keeps everything fairly manageable.
  • MKAA names roach, dace, bream, perch, chub and pike here. The association says the stretch can produce good nets of silver fish, so there’s plenty to keep the float busy.
  • The bigger attractions are the reported chub over 7 lb and perch over 4 lb. That’s a decent bit of upside if you’re after something with a bit more poke.
  • There’s a traditional statutory close season, so river fishing is shut from 15 March through 15 June inclusive. The season reopens on 16 June and runs through 14 March.
  • Two rods maximum are allowed on the river. Worth keeping that clear in your head, as MKAA’s wider day-ticket page also lists a three-rod ticket, but this venue is limited to two.
  • Access is helped by two free car parks on the Bradwell complex, plus cut-grass footpaths around the lake. Vehicle access around parts of the complex is possible when conditions are dry.
  • If the ground turns boggy, MKAA closes the access track. So don’t bank on driving right round in wet weather — a short leg-stretch may be part of the plan.
  • The venue is at OS grid reference SP 83475 41890, around 52.0692, -0.7836, with MK13 0EZ the nearest supplied postcode. Day tickets are sold on the bank by MKAA bailiffs and run midnight to midnight.

Methods: The checked details point to a good silver-fish venue with chub, perch and pike as the cheeky extras. No specific approach is stated, so match your float, feeder or predator plans to the swim and conditions on the day.

Key rules

  • River fishing is closed from 15 March through 15 June inclusive.
  • Fishing is available from 16 June through 14 March inclusive.
  • A maximum of two rods is permitted on the river.
  • An Environment Agency rod licence is required.
  • MKAA season membership is valid subject to the association’s venue rules.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
