We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is park frontage on the River Great Ouse, set among countryside and riverside walks. Sounds properly peaceful, rather than a hectic day-ticket circus.
  • The banks are described as accessible and safe, so getting settled with the gear should be fairly bob on. Parking is tied in with the holiday park and touring pitches.
  • It’s flowing river habitat, suited to float fishing and relaxed coarse angling. Keep things simple and work the water in front of you rather than faffing with heavy kit.
  • The named river fish are bream, perch, roach and the occasional larger carp. A cracking mix for a float or feeder-style session, though the tackle rules keep things deliberately traditional.
  • Residents can start at 07:30. Visitors start at 08:30 by prior arrangement. Everyone packs up at dusk, with no night fishing allowed.
  • You can use a maximum of two rods, but both must be attended at all times. No leaving rods twitching away while you wander off for a brew.
  • Unhooking mats and landing nets are compulsory. Keepnets are not allowed, and every fish must go straight back immediately.
  • There’s a proper list of banned kit and bait: artificial baits, dog biscuits, nuts, braided main line, fixed feeders, barbed hooks, spodding and bait boats are all out. Groundbait is capped at 1 kg.
  • Nets must be dipped and rinsed before fishing any lakes. Equipment must be taken away at the end of the day, unless it is behind a lakeside pitch. Remember your Environment Agency rod licence too.

Methods: Keep it nice and simple with float fishing or relaxed coarse angling on the flowing river. Roach, perch and bream are the main named targets, with occasional larger carp in the mix.
