The lowdown
- This is a proper mixed bit of river, with deep pools, steady runs and smoother glides to pick apart.
- The Tywi’s sewin fishing is the big draw here. Locally, sea trout are called sewin, and they’re the fish this water is best known for.
- Salmon are present too, particularly as autumn rolls in, so there’s always a chance of something special moving through.
- For tactics, keep things mobile. Work the pools and the crease, then have a go through the runs and glides as water levels change.
- A bit of colour in the river can be bob on for sea trout. Clearer conditions may call for a subtler presentation and a careful approach.
- Trotting, spinning and feeder fishing aren’t interchangeable here — check the rules closely and stick to fair angling by rod and line only.
- The association manages or owns around 9 miles of the main River Tywi, while its wider day-ticket offer covers over 7 miles of Tywi fishing.
- Llandeilo Bridge Beat is shown on the association’s access and parking page, which also provides beat maps and access information.
- Don’t just follow the sat-nav onto farmland. Vehicles must not be taken onto farmers’ or other land without permission, and you must not drive across association waters without the landowner’s say-so.
- Autumn is especially worth a look for salmon, but sewin rules are tight: all sea trout after 1 September go back, as do sea trout over 60cm.
Methods: Work the pools, runs and glides with a mobile approach, keeping an eye on flow and water colour. Whatever method you choose, it must be fair angling with rod and line only.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
