River level integration coming for this stretch.

The lowdown

  • • This is CDAC water, with the club founded way back in 1953. Whitemill is the club’s headline stretch, so it’s clearly one to have on the radar.
  • • Four pools are named on the official description: Gilbert’s, Railway, Herbert’s and The Rocks. Plenty there to keep you moving and looking for the best water.
  • • The club says the stretch can fish successfully in almost any river condition. Handy stuff on a river like the Tywi, where a bit of water can change the game.
  • • Salmon and sewin are the main targets, with opportunity described throughout the official season. Proper classic Tywi fare.
  • • Worming, spinning and fly fishing are all permitted on this stretch. Worming starts from 1 May, rather than the 1 April opening date.
  • • The official fishing period is 1 April to 7 October. So there’s a decent season, but make sure your method matches the dates.
  • • The club doesn’t publish a stretch length or peg count. This is pool fishing rather than a numbered-peg sort of setup, with Gilbert’s, Railway, Herbert’s and The Rocks the key names.
  • • Parking is provided on the Llandeilo side of High Noon Garage. Vehicles in CDAC parking areas are left at the owner’s risk, so don’t treat the car park like a guarded compound.
  • • Keep it tidy and stick to the Country Code. All litter goes home with you — simple, bob on and fair to everyone.
  • • No specific bank arrangement, night-fishing position or boat-fishing rule is stated on the official Whitemill page. The website presents access as a club membership benefit.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: Fly fishing, spinning and worming are permitted. Work the named pools and adjust to the river height; worming is allowed from 1 May only.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
