Willington — Pride of Derby Angling Association (mixed fishery)
Willington is a proper mixed-fishery stretch on the River Trent, run by Pride of Derby Angling Association Limited. It’s members-only water, with no single species dominating — roach, chub, barbel and a bit of bream are all on the club’s list.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is one of two River Trent areas available to Pride of Derby members, and most of the club’s river fishing is pleasure fishing rather than match work.
- The association describes Willington as a mixed fishery. No predominant species means you can target different fish rather than building the whole session around one.
- Roach, chub and barbel are the main named species, with bream present to a lesser degree. A nice varied Trent ticket, basically.
- Access is reached by leaving Willington towards Repton, crossing the River Trent and taking the first gate on the left. The club says access at its Trent locations is very good.
- Parking is behind the selected fishing peg, subject to access conditions. There are locked car parks available on the club’s Trent sections too.
- Night fishing is permitted at the fishery under the relevant opening arrangements, so check that your session fits the current club rules before setting up.
- The water is for members only, with your season ticket carried as proof of membership. Bailiffs can ask to see it, so don’t leave it in the car.
- Two rods can be fished at once under the general club rules. Give other anglers space too — fishing within 15 yards needs their permission.
- Barbel and carp must not be kept in keepnets when pleasure fishing. Fixed bolt rigs are banned, and unhooking mats are compulsory when carp or pike fishing.
- A few easy-to-miss bits: no boats, live fish bait, fires or bridge fishing. Shut and lock gates and height barriers after use, and don’t damage the banks.
Methods: It’s mainly pleasure fishing on a mixed Trent section, so the club’s named roach, chub, barbel and bream give you plenty of scope. Keep within the two-rod rule and the club’s tackle restrictions.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
