We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Doveridge on Live River Levels

The lowdown
- This is an upper River Dove stretch, close to where the River Churnet and Dove meet. Proper interesting river country.
- The Dove forms part of the Staffordshire–Derbyshire boundary nearby, so you’re fishing a bit of classic border water.
- Trout and grayling are the main event here. The stretch is specifically described as prime habitat for both.
- It isn’t trout and grayling only, mind. Pike and chub are present, with occasional barbel turning up as well.
- The surrounding river is a lowland, meandering Dove section. Expect a more winding character rather than a wild, tumbling mountain stream.
- The fishery is described as mixed coarse and fly fishing, so there’s scope for both styles depending on the conditions and the bit of river in front of you.
- This is historically associated with Izaak Walton, which gives the place a lovely bit of old-school Dove character. A proper bit of angling heritage.
- Summer anglers need to take care around giant hogweed, which has been reported along the stretch. Keep your wits about you and avoid contact.
- Precise access details, parking notes and maps are held in the members area. There’s no public stretch length or peg count, so expect to do a bit of checking before setting off.
- Access looks member-controlled rather than openly advertised day-ticket water. Bob on if you’re with the group, but don’t assume you can just turn up and fish.
- We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.
Methods: The water is set up for both fly fishing and coarse fishing. Trout and grayling are the headline targets, with pike, chub and the occasional barbel adding a bit of variety.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
