We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Wimborne on Live River Levels

The lowdown
- This is one for the angler who likes to move. The club recommends an agile, roving approach, and that makes sense here rather than sitting it out in one swim all day.
- Some areas can be challenging to fish, so don’t expect every peg to be a doddle. A bit of watercraft and a willingness to explore will be bob on.
- Shallow gravel runs sit beneath ranunculus weed. They should offer plenty of interest, although the stretch gets weedier through summer and some swims can become awkward.
- There are deeper holes as well, giving you a handy change of gear and approach when the shallow runs aren’t playing ball.
- A good head of chub is present, with typical fish reported at 3–5 lb. Chub over 6 lb have also been reported, so there’s a proper chance of a cheeky lump.
- Large barbel are also present, alongside specimen roach and specimen perch. That’s a cracking mix for a mobile session with a few different lines to try.
- Pike, grayling, brown trout, dace, eels and sea trout are listed among the other species. The stretch has a fair bit going on beneath the surface.
- Summer brings more weed, while autumn and winter open up more swims. Those colder months may make moving around and finding fresh water easier.
- A path runs along the bank and the club describes access as very good. Upstream access is from Oakley Lane / Canford Magna, with parking in the lane; downstream access is from the B3073 Ham Lane via Fox Lane and Old Ham Lane.
Methods: Keep mobile and work the features rather than forcing one swim. Trotting, feeder work and presenting bait around the gravel runs, weed edges and deeper holes are the obvious starting points, with tackle adapted for chub and the larger barbel present.
