We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open East Mills Weir on Live River Levels

The lowdown

  • You get about a mile of river to explore, and fishing is available from both banks. Plenty of water to go at without feeling boxed in.
  • The setting is classic Avon valley stuff, near Breamore Mill and the water meadows. Quiet, rural and very much a proper river session.
  • The nearby river scene includes divided channels and mill-related water features, so expect a bit of variety rather than one uniform run.
  • It’s an all-round Hampshire Avon venue with chub, roach, barbel, dace, grayling, bream, pike, eels and trout named across the association’s waters.
  • For coarse anglers, the season runs from 16 June to 14 March. Trout and salmon can be fished in their season, so check what applies before setting up.
  • Trotting, feeder work and spinning are all relevant approaches here. Spinning is specifically allowed, handy if you fancy having a chuck for pike.
  • Normal fishing hours are 7am until one hour after sunset. No sneaking in for a dawn start before 7am, even if the river looks bob on.
  • Night fishing needs a night permit. It runs until 11:30pm from 16 June to 30 September, then until 10pm from 1 October to 14 March.
  • Access is via a club key, and parking is restricted to the official car park. Up to three cars may park in the farmyard, so keep it tidy and stick to the arrangement.
  • Keep strictly to the riverbanks, and don’t fish between the signs at the farm. Watch the overhead powerlines too, with the association recommending at least 20 metres from the cables.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: A cracking mixed-river venue for trotting, feeder fishing and spinning, with the divided channels and mill-related features giving you plenty to investigate. Pick the approach to suit the flow and the target fish.
