Lower Hill Court (Angling Dreams)
Lower Hill Court is a cracking, just-under-two-mile stretch a few miles below Ross-on-Wye, run by Angling Dreams Ltd. It’s mostly double-bank, fast and shallow, with plenty of in-stream features and comfortable swims — though much of it is proper adventure water.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a sizeable bit of the Wye, stretching for just under 2 miles. Mostly double-bank fishing too, so there’s plenty of water to explore.
- The river is predominantly fast and shallow, with a variety of in-stream features to pick apart. Expect plenty of flow rather than a lazy, steady glide.
- There are numerous comfortable swims, making it less of a faff once you’ve found a spot. That said, the fishery is described as largely ignored, so the adventurous angler may find the rewards.
- Waders can be useful here, according to Angling Dreams. Handy when you want to get into position or reach water that looks just out of range from the bank.
- The coarse summer season runs from June 16 to October 31. Summer day tickets cover either The Beach, which is exclusive for up to two anglers, or the rest of the fishery for up to four anglers per day.
- Winter coarse fishing runs from November 1 to March 14 and is members only. Vehicle restrictions also bite from October 18 to March 14, so plan the walk and kit sensibly.
- Vehicle access is available along the full length when weather permits. In wet weather, secure parking is available a short walk away.
- Access is by prior arrangement only. No cheeky turning up on the bank — you’ll need a pre-booked day ticket or proof of the relevant membership.
- There’s a separate salmon season from March 15 to June 15, with tickets available through The Fishing Passport. Night fishing is strictly prohibited, while camping is allowed by prior arrangement.
Methods: The fast, shallow character suits active river fishing: work the features, keep mobile and make the most of the glides and crease. Waders can be useful, and the less-visited water should appeal to anglers happy to explore rather than sit on one obvious peg.
