Pontymoile is a club-controlled canal stretch running from Bridge 48 at Pontymoile Basin to Bridge 53, just beyond the Open Hearth pub. It offers classic canal coarse fishing, with perch, bream, roach, rudd, pike and other silver fish reported on nearby Pontypool canal waters.
The Duke’s Water — Lower River Wye, Monmouth

The Duke’s Water gives Monmouth and District Angling Society members over a kilometre of the Lower Wye on both banks at Monmouth. Barbel, chub and grayling are the named targets, with a big eddy below the old stone viaduct offering an option during spates.

Hadnock Road gives Monmouth and District Angling Society members roughly a kilometre of left-bank Wye fishing, with deeper wooded water below and shallower grassy swims above. A cracking bit of variety, but those steep banks need care when wet.

Lower Bigsweir is Newport Angling Association’s members-only Wye water, running above and below Bigsweir Bridge towards Llandogo. Fast shallows, water around eight feet deep and tidal level changes give it a proper mix of river character.
