We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Bellingham on Live River Levels
The lowdown
- A scenic North Tyne stretch running through Bellingham in northern Northumberland. Proper attractive water, although the club doesn’t publish a checked length, peg count or detailed bank breakdown.
- This is game-fishing water rather than a broad coarse-fishing ticket. The club’s published rules cover salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing.
- You’ll need to bring a landing net and disgorger. Simple bit of kit, but both are compulsory under the club rules.
- Only one rod can be fished at a time, and every rod being fished must be at the same peg. No juggling rods between swims.
- Barbed hooks are out. Barbless or micro-barbed hooks are allowed, so get your tackle sorted before heading off.
- Brown trout have a maximum daily take of two fish. No grayling may be killed or taken, and game fish must not go in a keep net.
- The migratory-fish limit is three salmon and sea trout in total per week. Coarse fish can’t be removed or killed without committee permission.
- Night fishing is not allowed. Camping, bivvies and tents are also banned on the river stretches, so this is strictly a daylight session.
- Parking is only allowed in designated and specified places. Fires, barbecues, alcohol and radios are prohibited at the bankside too — keep it tidy and low-key.
Methods: Treat it as a game-fishing river and fish within the club’s salmon, sea trout and brown trout rules. A landing net and disgorger are compulsory, with one rod only and no night fishing.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
