Nottingham (Barton in Fabis) — TVA (Barton Ferry Field)
A proper River Trent members-only stretch at Barton Ferry Field, running from the chalets downstream to the caravan. Handy access off Brown Lane, parking behind all pegs, and a cracking mix of named Trent fish — including carp over 30 lb.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- Access is off Brown Lane, signed Barton Ferry. You’ll come to a red and yellow combination-lock gate, with the code issued to TVA members alongside the membership book.
- The field starts beside the chalets and runs downstream to the caravan. Fishing is from designated bank pegs or platforms only, so stick to the marked swims.
- TVA says parking is available behind all pegs, but don’t take the car onto the field. Keep to the tracks and shut, lock and check every gate after entering or leaving.
- The margins are well worth a look. TVA specifically says not to overlook them, so don’t automatically pile everything into the middle of the river.
- This is a proper mixed Trent stretch. TVA lists carp exceeding 30 lb, barbel to 17 lb, chub to 7 lb, bream to 10 lb and pike of various sizes.
- Bank fishing is allowed, but boats are a no-go. The banks across TVA waters can vary from relatively flat to sandy, stony or stepped, so take care around your peg.
- The close season applies from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. Outside that period, members can fish the stretch under TVA’s rules and membership conditions.
- Night fishing is available to members aged 18 and over. There’s a maximum five-night stay on one peg, then five nights away from that peg — no cheeky extended camp-out.
- Keep fish care bob on: all fish must go straight back, padded unhooking mats are compulsory for carp, barbel and pike, and antiseptic gel or liquid must be carried.
- Rods can’t be left unattended. No fires are allowed, and disposable barbecues must sit on a non-combustible surface. Dogs are welcome, but keep them close or on a lead.
Methods: Fishing is from the designated bank pegs or platforms, with TVA advising anglers to pay particular attention to the margins. Boats are not permitted, so this is all about working the bank swims.
