TIDAL — Cottam to Torksey Bridge — Rampton Fishing Club
A proper tidal Trent club stretch running roughly 1.5 miles from the Cottam area towards Torksey Bridge, with Rampton Fishing Club holding the angling rights. It’s members only, fast flowing and very much a bank-side, weather-watching sort of venue.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is private tidal River Trent water, formerly run by the 2100 Club of Cottam Power Station. Rampton Fishing Club now runs it and is no longer affiliated with the power station.
- The listed water is associated with Cottam, Rampton and Torksey Bridge, with access from the Rampton area near Torksey. The stretch is approximately 1.5 miles long.
- Expect a proper tidal river feel. The flow can be fast, while mud and flooding are part of the deal after wet weather. Keep an eye on the conditions before setting off.
- Fishing is bank-side only, with no platforms. The club says it needs additional stone on the banks and more pegs, so this is not a polished, landscaped fishery.
- The long lane from Rampton village can hold water. Access gates are locked, and keys are not issued to all members, so check the practicalities with the club before making a trip.
- Parking is on hard standing where possible. The banks can turn muddy and flooded after rain, so sturdy footwear and a bit of common sense are bob on.
- This is a club-water venue rather than a quick day-ticket wander. New members may need to join a waiting list, and a permit number is issued once payment has cleared.
- Night fishing is allowed, but keep it tidy. No fires, no mess, and don’t leave the swim looking like a campsite. When the venue is busy, anglers should not stay on the same peg for more than a week.
- Guests can walk the water only on public footpaths and may not fish. Members must display their permit in the vehicle window, so don’t forget it before heading down the lane.
Methods: The checked details don’t set out a confirmed method list. On a fast tidal river with mud, flooding and changing conditions, anglers will need to choose their approach around the flow and the state of the bank.
