Fladbury Left Bank Fishery, River Avon
A cracking left-bank stretch below Fladbury Weir, run by Girling Angling Society since 1956. It’s got 35 described pegs, varied water and a proper reputation for big barbel.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- The main river has 26 match pegs below the weir, with robust steps and platforms making access pretty tidy.
- Pegs 1 to 4 sit in or beside the bay, where the water is generally gentler. A nice spot for a more relaxed approach.
- Pegs 19 to 25 are nearer the weir and can be pacey, especially when the river has a bit of colour or extra push.
- Peg 25 has flow running along the near bank, so it’s one to look at when choosing a line close in.
- The lock stream opposite Fladbury Island adds nine more pegs, numbered 27 to 35. These are especially useful when the main river is high or in flood.
- The lock-stream pegs are generally winter pegs, with summer boat traffic making them less appealing at that time of year.
- Peg 3 has a double raised platform and suits an accompanied youngster. Pegs 2 and 4 have handrails and low steps.
- Peg 34 has no steps, but there’s a gentle slope to the water. The society also gives vehicle-turnaround guidance nearby.
- There’s a proper mix of depths and flow. Try feeder tactics for the big roach, or work the creases and steady water for chub, dace and roach.
- Fladbury is known for big barbel, while the lock stream also holds carp, bream and the occasional eel. Pike and perch are named too.
Methods: A flexible venue, with feeder tactics worth a go for roach and stronger tackle suited to the barbel water. Fish the gentler bay swims or look for pace and crease lines nearer the weir, adjusting to river levels.
