We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is roughly 0.5 mile of the Wharfe, tucked between Linton and Collingham. Proper rural, village-edge stuff.
  • The entry is about half a mile above Linton Bridge, which is the obvious local landmark and a handy way to get your bearings.
  • Access runs along Linton Common. Look for the gate marked private, then after around 100 yards turn left down towards the river.
  • There’s parking for about five cars in the main area on the triangle outside the garden centre or nursery. It’s a small spot, so don’t bank on a space.
  • If the main parking is full, the nearest alternative is before Linton Bridge, on the right when travelling from Collingham direction.
  • You can drop tackle off at the venue, but vehicles must then go back to the car park. A bit of faff, but bob on if you’ve brought a mountain of gear.
  • The official listing calls it coarse and trout water. No detailed species list, peg map, depths or swim-by-swim breakdown is published.
  • No matches are allowed on this stretch, so it should suit a quieter session rather than a busy match-day atmosphere.
  • The access notes don’t state particular flow features, depths or seasonal hotspots, so expect to read the water on the day and work out the glides and crease as you go.
  • It’s a society-owned stretch, not a casual day-ticket water. Sort the annual year-book side first, then you’re good to fish within the club’s rules.
  • We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.

Methods: The venue is listed for coarse and trout fishing, but no specific methods are published. Pick your approach around the river on the day, whether that’s trotting or a feeder line.
