Fordingbridge Park – River Avon
Fordingbridge Park is a cracking day-ticket stretch on the Hampshire Avon, right beside Fordingbridge town centre and its historic bridge. Proper handy too, with parking, loos and a riverside café close by.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open East Mills Flume on Live River Levels

The lowdown
- This is one of the few day-ticket stretches on the Avon, so it’s a useful option for visitors wanting a go without club membership faff.
- The setting is bang beside Fordingbridge Park, with the town centre and historic bridge nearby. It’s a lively park fishery rather than a tucked-away rural beat.
- There’s a fair mix of reported fish here: roach to 3lb, chub to 6lb 10oz, dace to 1lb, perch to 2lb and carp over 10lb.
- Pike have been reported to 20lb or more, while rainbow trout have reached 6lb or more. A proper mixed bag of possibilities, then.
- Coarse fishing is allowed from 16 June to 14 March. That gives you the main autumn, winter and early spring window for coarse methods.
- Trout and fly fishing are permitted from 3 April to 15 June. Check the rules carefully if you’re switching between the two seasons.
- The fishery runs from 7:30am until dusk, so there’s no late-night session here. Tickets must be sorted before you start fishing.
- You can use a maximum of two rods. Rainbow trout may be retained under the published rules, but other fish must go straight back.
- Keep clear of the play area and the ground underneath power lines. Children under 12 need an adult with them, and all litter must be removed or put in the public bins.
- It’s a bob-on family-friendly park setup, with a play area, skate park, paddling pool, toilets and café nearby. Just remember it’s a shared public space, so fish with a bit of awareness.
Methods: The rules allow coarse fishing in season and trout or fly fishing in the spring window. A sensible approach is to pick your method around the species you’re after, with the mixed reported catches giving plenty to aim for.
