We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • The stretch is reached from the A361 between Highworth and Lechlade. Look for the turn signed for the 11th-century Inglesham church.
  • Parking is on the concrete opposite the church, which is handy enough and saves a proper faff before you even get the gear out.
  • From there, walk through the black gates to reach the river. Keep to the proper access route and stick to the banks.
  • There are also club fishing rights behind the farm. That section is reached over the stile in front of Inglesham House.
  • Important one: do not walk through the farm. Use the stile access for the farm-rights section and keep things tidy.
  • The official stretch details don’t give a length, peg count, bank information or a proper description of the river’s flow and features.
  • Likewise, no fish species are named specifically for Inglesham, so there’s no fair basis for picking a target species from the club’s details.
  • Night fishing is only allowed with the additional night membership. Without it, fishing is not permitted before sunrise or after sunset.
  • Members need to carry their membership book and identification on club waters. An Environment Agency rod licence is required too.
  • The club bans boats and bait boats, live baiting, unattended baited rods, and any wading, swimming, bathing or sub-aqua activity. Unhooking mats are compulsory.

Methods: The checked details don’t describe the depth, flow, swims or river features, so there’s no honest steer on trotting, feeder work or crease fishing here. Fish within the club rules, keep baited rods attended and carry an unhooking mat.

  • Members must carry their membership books and identification on club waters.
  • An Environment Agency rod licence is required.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
