We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Evesham on Live River Levels
The lowdown
- This is open, accessible river fishing rather than a tucked-away little farm stretch. Public paths and recreational meadow give it a proper town-centre feel.
- Crown Meadow is an open flood meadow beside the Avon. When the ground is firm, you can drive around the meadow to the river. When it’s wet or flooded, that access can disappear.
- Viaduct Meadow is the easier-looking base, with a car park beside the new river bridge and public toilets under or near the bridge. Bob on for a straightforward session.
- The water is a famous Evesham Angling Festival match venue, so expect plenty of attention. It can be busy at weekends, especially when matches are booked.
- Weekdays outside match bookings are generally the more convenient shout for pleasure fishing. Do check before travelling, as match bookings can restrict parts of the venue.
- Float fishing is the natural starting point for the named silver fish. Roach, perch and bream are all target species here, with plenty of scope to work the float through the river.
- A feeder is suited to the bream, chub and barbel mentioned for the town stretch. Look for the crease, steadier glides and any changes in pace rather than just parking on the first peg.
- Chub and barbel are also reported from the town stretch, giving the venue a bit more punch beyond the silver-fish game. Keep the approach adaptable if the river has a bit of colour.
- Access is on both banks, with Crown Meadow reached from the Abbey Road gate. The nearest postcode given for Crown Meadow access is WR11 4ST.
Methods: Float fishing suits the roach, perch and bream, while feeder fishing is a good bet for bream, chub and barbel. Keep an eye on match bookings and changing meadow conditions.
