We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is a proper club-run stretch, with Girling Angling Society holding the left-bank fishing rights since 1956. A fair bit of history behind it.
  • The main fishery sits below Fladbury Weir and has 26 match pegs. They were refurbished during 2017 and early 2018, with robust steps and bottom-stage platforms added.
  • There are another nine pegs in the lock channel opposite Fladbury Island. These are numbered 27 to 35, handy to know when sorting your swim.
  • The Society describes it as a varied river fishery. The named residents are barbel, chub, pike, roach, dace and perch, so there’s a decent mix to go at.
  • For a match-style session, the numbered pegs and improved platforms should make things nicely straightforward. It’s a good-looking setup for settling in and concentrating on the float or feeder.
  • Full members can fish Fladbury when no match is booked and can also enter Society matches. Associate members get pleasure fishing when the calendar shows it is available.
  • Check the Society calendar before heading down, especially as match bookings affect availability. Club bookings are also offered, including full and half-fishery options.
  • Roadside parking is available, with the pegs a couple of hundred yards away. Associates are told to use Mill Lane Car Park, while booked clubs can park behind their pegs on match days.
  • Bailiffs patrol daily, so keep your membership card with you. It’s a tidy, well-managed stretch with clear rules around bivvies, night fishing, fires, litter and heavy pre-baiting.

Methods: The varied fishery and named mix of barbel, chub, roach, dace and perch suit a flexible session, with float and feeder approaches worth considering. Pike are also named by the Society, so choose your tactics around the fish you’re targeting.
