Who it suits

Is it right for you?

Great for

  • Mobile carp anglers. You can carry a decent spread of tackle between swims without needing a full barrow load every time.
  • Organised coarse anglers and day-session anglers. The pockets, removable pouches and table function make it easy to keep bait, terminal tackle and small essentials under control.

Maybe skip if

  • Anglers wanting an ultra-light minimalist pack. This is a capable luggage system, not a tiny day rucksack. It’ll reward sensible packing rather than a ‘chuck everything in’ approach.
  • Short walks with only a few essentials. You may not get the best from its size and multi-function design if you only need a net, lunch and a couple of bits of terminal tackle.

Quick verdict

A proper roving workhorse

If you like moving swims, keeping your kit tidy and carrying enough tackle for a full day on the bank, this rucksack looks bang on. The 900D Endura fabric, moulded EVA base and three-point harness give it a much more serious feel than a basic day bag.

It’s not the smallest or lightest option for a quick evening wander, and a fully loaded rucksack will still make you work for your brew. But for organised carp and coarse anglers who want rucksack carry, table use and barrow flexibility in one package, it’s a cracking bit of luggage.

The full rundown

Everything you'll want to know about the Aqua Black Series Deluxe Roving Fishing Rucksack

Some fishing luggage is basically a posh sack with a zip. Handy, perhaps, but not exactly the stuff that gets you chuffed when you’re shifting swims all day. The Aqua Black Series Deluxe Roving Fishing Rucksack is a different beast. It’s built around the idea of keeping your gear mobile, organised and ready to go when the rods are off and you fancy a move.

The first thing that jumps out is the amount of thought packed into the shape. At 580mm high, 490mm wide and 300mm deep, this isn’t a tiny stalking bag. There’s enough room for a serious day’s tackle, spare bits, bait essentials and those cheeky extras that somehow always end up coming fishing. Keep your packing sensible and it should cover a lot of roving situations without needing a full barrow.

The 900D Endura fabric gives the bag a suitably hard-working feel on paper. That’s the sort of material choice you want when luggage is being dragged through brambles, plonked on damp grass and shoved under a bedchair. The low-profile design is especially useful in cramped swims, where a tall, awkward holdall can become a proper faff.

Its base is where the clever stuff starts. There’s a moulded EVA base with a zipped compartment, helping keep the main bag lifted away from the worst of the wet and muck. That compartment also gives you somewhere useful for smaller items that you don’t want rattling around loose with the rest of your kit.

Flip the ridged base over and it can work as a table. Now, it’s not going to replace a full bivvy table for a banquet, obviously. But for rig work, a brew, bait prep or keeping a few essentials off the deck, that’s a dead handy feature. On a busy margin swim, every bit of usable surface counts.

Storage looks properly well sorted. You get three external pockets, two internal mesh pockets and an internal zipped pocket, plus two removable security pouches. That gives you plenty of scope to separate terminal tackle, alarms, leads, keys, phones and the other bits you don’t want disappearing into the bottom of the bag.

The long pocket adds another nice touch, with a padded divider and bank-stick loops. That’s useful when you want certain longer or more delicate bits kept apart, rather than thrown in with reels, bait tubs and a fistful of rig tools. The removable pouches also mean you can strip the setup back when you’re travelling lighter.

Carrying it is clearly a big part of the design. The three-point harness should spread the load more usefully than a pair of basic shoulder straps, while twin haul loops make lifting it into a barrow or out of a car less awkward. The reinforced grab handles let it work as a barrow bag, and base straps allow an Atom mat to be attached underneath.

There’s even an Aquatexx/Aquattexx pack-away rain cover included, which is exactly the sort of thing you appreciate when the heavens open halfway through a move. Add in the low-profile shape, the table function and the choice of carry methods, and this feels like luggage aimed at anglers who want one proper system rather than a pile of separate bags. It’s a little more than a simple roving rucksack, and that’s the point.

Our take

Built for moving, not just storing

The big selling point here is versatility. Carry it as a rucksack, use the ridged base as a table, attach an Atom mat underneath or drop it on the barrow using the reinforced grab handles.

That makes it a smart choice for mobile sessions where your kit needs to do several jobs without turning the swim into a tackle-shop explosion.

A flexible bit of luggage

One bag, several jobs

The Aqua Black Series Deluxe is built around flexible storage rather than one huge open compartment. External pockets give you quick access to things you use regularly, while the mesh and zipped internal pockets help stop smaller tackle vanishing into the depths.

The two removable security pouches are particularly useful for valuable or fiddly bits. Keep your keys, phone, receivers or rig tools together, then lift the pouches out when you’re packing the car or moving between swims.

The padded divider in the long pocket adds protection and separation, while the bank-stick loops make that pocket more than just spare space. It’s a tidy place for longer accessories that otherwise end up poking into everything else.

Worth knowing. The base is more than a waterproof-looking platform. It has a zipped compartment, flips to become a ridged table and includes straps for attaching an Atom mat. That multi-use design is the real reason this bag stands out.

Best on the move

A strong fit for mobile anglers

If your session involves walking the lake, checking spots and moving when the fish aren’t playing ball, this rucksack makes plenty of sense. The three-point harness gives you a proper carrying setup, while the twin haul loops and reinforced handles cover lifting and barrow duties.

For carp anglers, it should work nicely as the main tackle-and-essentials bag alongside a separate bait setup. Keep rigs, leads, tools, alarms and personal gear organised, then leave bulky shelter and cooking kit elsewhere. That keeps the roving load manageable.

Coarse anglers who like staying mobile should get plenty from it too. Use the table base for feeder or float tackle, keep hooklengths and small items in the pouches, and stash a light mat underneath if you’re using the Atom attachment.

Worth knowing. Don’t fill every pocket just because it’s there. A clever luggage system can still become a back-breaking lump if you pack three versions of every rig and enough spare tackle to open a shop.

The useful bits

Quick answers before you buy

The pack-away rain cover is a big help in changeable UK weather, but it’s still good practice to keep phones, cameras and paperwork in a sealed pouch. Rain covers protect the bag; they don’t make every zip magically submarine-proof.

The ridged table function is best for small jobs: tying rigs, sorting hooks, preparing a bite of bait or keeping a mug out of the mud. It’s a handy surface, not a replacement for a full-size session table.

The low-profile design should make it easier to slide the rucksack under a bedchair, which is bob on in compact swims. Just remember that a loaded bag needs room for the harness and straps when you’re packing everything away.

Worth knowing. Think of this as a central mobile tackle hub. Pair it with a separate bait bag or cool bag and you’ve got a tidy setup for moving, without dragging every bit of kit from swim to swim.

On paper

Pros & cons

What we like

  • Properly versatile: rucksack, barrow bag and table duties in one.
  • Loads of useful organisation, including removable security pouches and a long pocket with bank-stick loops.
  • Low-profile shape can slide under a bedchair.
  • Moulded EVA base should help keep the contents away from damp ground and general bank grime.

Worth knowing

  • A big, fully loaded pack won’t feel featherweight on a long walk between swims.
  • The generous storage may tempt you to pack far more than you actually need.
  • The table base is handy, but you’ll need to keep the bag positioned securely when using it as a work surface.
