Who it suits
Is it right for you?
Great for
- Predator anglers using one rod. You get clear indication and drop-back differentiation without carrying a full alarm set.
- Anglers building an RX+ setup gradually. Buy a single alarm now, then add the RX+ receiver and extra alarms when your fishing grows.
Maybe skip if
- Anglers after the cheapest basic alarm. You’re paying for proper adjustability, build quality and system compatibility rather than just a noise box.
- Anyone who needs a complete wireless setup in the box. The RX+ receiver isn’t included, so check the total cost before committing.

Quick verdict
A proper bit of kit for serious bite indication
The Fox Micron RX+ Single Alarm is a polished, feature-packed alarm for anglers who want dependable indication without dragging a full presentation set around. Its weatherproof case, DTSS sensing system and drop-back differential give it plenty of bite-time ability.
It’s not the cheapest single alarm on the shelf, and you’ll need to add the RX+ receiver separately if you want wireless remote indication. But if you value control, clarity and a tidy long-term setup, this is a cracking choice.

The sealed case, stainless-steel thread, rubber inlays and machined roller wheel all point to a properly finished bit of kit.
DTSS, eight sensitivity settings and the drop-back differential give you plenty of control over bite indication.
Clearer drop-back information and sensitivity adjustment can help you react to subtle movement and changing conditions.
Indexed controls, colour LEDs and straightforward battery operation keep setup simple despite the feature count.
It offers a lot, but the separate RX+ receiver means the full wireless system can become a sizeable spend.

The full rundown
Everything you'll want to know about the Fox Micron RX+ Single Alarm
There’s something properly handy about a single alarm. No lugging a full three-rod presentation set down the bank, no empty sockets staring back at you, and no faff if you’re fishing one rod for a few hours. The Fox Micron RX+ Single Alarm is built for exactly that sort of job, while still leaving the door open for a bigger setup later.
At first glance, it’s classic Fox Micron territory. Compact, smart-looking and clearly designed to sit neatly behind a rod butt. The sealed case keeps the weather out, while the rod-friendly rubber inlays help protect the blank and stop things feeling a bit clattery when you’re getting the rods sorted in the dark.
The clever bit is inside. Fox’s D-Tec Plus Sensing System, or DTSS, handles the bite detection. That’s paired with a drop-back differential, so the alarm can give you a more useful indication when a fish comes towards you and the line goes slack. For predator work, and for any situation where a drop-back can be easy to miss, that’s a proper bonus.
You’ve got plenty of control too. Volume has eight indexed levels, including silent, while tone also gets eight settings. Sensitivity has eight intelligent settings as well. That means you can wind things right down when you’re fishing tight to snags or dealing with tow, then open it up when you need a bit more movement picked up.
The twin multicolour LEDs are another nice touch. You can choose from red, green, blue, orange, purple and white, which is dead handy if you’re running more than one alarm or simply want a colour that stands out in your swim. A low-battery warning changes the LED colour to cyan, giving you a visual heads-up before the batteries become a proper problem.
For night work, the day and night operating modes keep the presentation sensible. Nobody wants an alarm glowing like a fairground ride when the rest of the lake is pitch black. Equally, a clear visual signal matters when you’re watching rods from a distance or keeping an eye on more than one line.
The roller wheel is Fox’s CNC-machined Tru-Run design. That should give the line a smooth, consistent ride through the alarm, while the high-quality cone speaker provides the audible side of things. You can set the noise to suit the swim, from a quiet nudge to something that’ll cut through a bit of wind and bank-side clatter.
It also has a rigid 3/8-inch stainless-steel thread, so it’ll fit standard banksticks, buzz bars and pod setups. Fox supplies rigid and soft compression washers, plus a spare soft washer, which gives you a decent bit of adjustment when you’re trying to get the alarm sitting square and snug.
The 2.5 mm power-out socket lets you run illuminated swingers, adding another layer of visual information. That’s useful when you’re fishing slack lines, watching for subtle movement or trying to keep the whole presentation tidy. Just remember that the RX+ receiver isn’t included. This is the alarm itself, not a complete wireless package.
So, who’s it for? Predator anglers get a lot from the drop-back logic and sensitivity control, while carp and coarse anglers wanting a premium single alarm get the same tidy, expandable platform. It’s a bit of an investment, but it’s a proper grown-up option rather than a cheap alarm you’ll be itching to replace after a season.

Our take
The single alarm that leaves room to grow
The big appeal here is flexibility. Run it as a standalone alarm for a compact predator or coarse setup, or build it into a Fox RX+ system later. That makes it a handy buy when you’re adding rods one at a time rather than splashing out on a full set straight away.
What you’re buying
A tidy, capable alarm with loads of control
The Fox Micron RX+ Single Alarm gives you the important stuff in a compact package: sealed weather protection, digital circuitry, a Tru-Run roller wheel and a clear speaker. The DTSS system handles movement detection, while the drop-back differential helps separate a line going out from one coming back at you.
Control is the strong point. Volume, tone and intelligent sensitivity all have eight indexed settings. Add the selectable LED colours, day and night modes and the cyan low-battery warning, and you’ve got a unit that can be set up around your swim rather than forcing you to fish around it.
Worth knowing. The alarm has a 3/8-inch stainless-steel thread and comes with rigid and soft compression washers, plus a spare soft washer. The RX+ receiver, however, is an extra purchase.
On the bank
Ideal for one-rod sessions and expandable setups
This is a cracking fit for predator anglers using one rod, especially where a drop-back needs calling clearly. It also works for carp and coarse anglers who want premium bite indication on a single rod, whether that’s a short evening session, a margin rod or a mobile stalking-style setup.
The alarm makes particular sense if you’re building a Fox RX+ system gradually. Start with one rod, then add the receiver and more alarms later. That’s a lot less painful than replacing a cheaper alarm set when your fishing changes.
It’s less compelling if you only need a basic beep when line moves. There are cheaper alarms that’ll do that job. Here, you’re paying for refined control, system compatibility and a more informative response when the fish changes direction.
Quick answers
The bits you’ll want to know
Does it suit night fishing? Yes. It has separate day and night operating modes, and the twin LEDs can be set to six colours: red, green, blue, orange, purple or white.
Can you use it silently? Yes. The volume control has eight indexed levels, including a silent setting. That’s useful when you’re close to other anglers or relying on a receiver for the audible alert.
How does it warn you about batteries? When the two AA batteries are running low, the LED colour changes to cyan. It’s a simple visual warning before the alarm goes flat at the wrong moment.
Worth knowing. If you want illuminated swingers, the 2.5 mm power-out socket is ready for them. Keep your wiring neat around the pod so it doesn’t snag when a proper screaming take arrives.
