Who it suits

Is it right for you?

Great for

  • Commercial carp and F1 anglers. The mix of Powerlite and Commercial Power topkits lets you switch between lighter work and more direct carp fishing.
  • Match anglers wanting a versatile long pole package. Six topkits and a cupping kit give you plenty of options when the venue, peg or target species changes.

Maybe skip if

  • Occasional anglers who mainly fish margins. A 16m package brings extra cost, storage and transport when a shorter pole would cover most of your fishing.
  • Anyone wanting the absolute lightest long pole possible. The S2000 is built as a useful all-round package with lots of included kit, rather than a stripped-back specialist pole.

The full rundown

Everything you'll want to know about the Maver MVR S2000 Pole Package 16m

The Maver MVR S2000 Pole Package 16m is aimed squarely at anglers who want one serious pole setup to cover a lot of ground. Not just a bare pole and a single topkit, either. This package comes with six topkits, a cupping kit and the bits needed to keep everything protected. That’s a proper bundle, mate.

At the heart of it is a 16m pole built using M8-type carbon fibre on a standard 22mm mandrel. In plain English, you’re looking at a long-range coarse pole designed for the sort of fishing where reaching the far shelf, far bank line or a precise open-water spot can make all the difference. When the fish are sitting just out of easy waggler range, that reach is a big deal.

The really useful bit is the topkit spread. You get three R-Series Powerlite topkits and three R-Series Commercial Power topkits. That gives you six ready-made routes into different styles of fishing, from lighter rigs for silvers and F1s through to more positive carp work when the lake is on the munch and there’s a chance of a proper lump.

The Powerlite kits make sense when you’re fishing lighter lines, smaller hooks and more delicate presentations. Think shallow F1 fishing, silverfish, carp that are behaving themselves and days when you need a bit more finesse. They’re the sort of kits you’d have rigged and ready when the peg starts showing signs of life but the fish aren’t exactly doing bosh laps.

The Commercial Power kits are the more direct choice when the venue is full of carp, the margins are busy or you’re expecting a screaming take. Having three of them means you can keep different rigs permanently set up, perhaps one for shallow fishing, one for the deck and one for a margin line. Less faff when bite-time arrives is always a win.

The package also includes an R-Series cupping kit. That’s dead handy for accurate feeding, especially when you’re fishing a tight line and don’t want to spray bait all over the swim. A few grains, micros or a small amount of groundbait delivered right over the hookbait can keep fish grubbing without blowing the spot apart. It’s a small detail that makes a long-pole package much more practical.

There’s a 16m mini section or extension included as well. That gives you the option to fish at the full stated range when conditions and presentation allow, while still keeping your setup adaptable. You won’t always need the full length. In fact, many sessions are better at 11, 13 or 14 metres. But when the fish push out, having that extra reach tucked in the holdall can save the day.

Maver has also used Teflon joints, designed to reduce carbon-to-carbon wear between the sections. That matters on a pole which is going to be assembled, shipped, extended and packed away over plenty of sessions. The sensible bank habit still applies: keep sections clean, avoid grinding grit into the joints and don’t force anything when a section is tight.

Storage is covered by either a pole protection case or an MV-R tube holdall, depending on the package version. That’s important with a 16m pole, because loose sections rattling around in a van are asking for trouble. Add the 12-month manufacturing warranty and this looks like a well-equipped route into long-pole fishing, particularly if you want versatility rather than a narrowly focused tool.

Our take

Why the six topkits matter

This isn’t just a pole with one basic topkit thrown in. The mix of three R-Series Powerlite topkits and three R-Series Commercial Power topkits gives you a useful spread for lighter silverfish work through to more serious carp gear.

That makes the S2000 a proper session-builder. Keep lighter kits ready for F1s and silvers, heavier kits for lumps, and use the cupping kit when accurate feeding matters more than chucking it out and hoping for the best.

The package

Six topkits make this more than a bare pole

The MVR S2000 package is built around a 16m pole made from M8-type carbon fibre, with construction on a standard 22mm mandrel. That gives you the reach for big open swims, far-bank lines and those days when the fish refuse to come close. The 16m mini section or extension adds another useful option when you need every inch.

The kit selection is the star of the show. Three R-Series Powerlite topkits cover lighter, more technical work, while three R-Series Commercial Power topkits give you a more positive setup for carp and hard-pulling venues. The R-Series cupping kit completes the package for accurate feeding.

Worth knowing. Teflon joints are designed to reduce carbon-to-carbon wear. Still treat the pole properly: keep joints clean, avoid twisting sections under pressure and support the pole well when shipping it out.

On the bank

Built for anglers who change approach

This is a strong fit for the commercial angler who likes having several lines ready. You can keep a Powerlite kit set for F1s or silvers, a Commercial Power kit for carp and another prepared for the margin. When the rods are off and the pole line starts fizzing, you’re not wasting ten minutes changing everything around.

It also makes sense for match anglers fishing venues where the target can change from one peg to the next. Full length for an island line, shorter for a track, then a heavy kit down the edge. The cupping kit helps you feed tightly when a small, accurate patch is the key to nicking a bite.

It’s less compelling if you mainly fish short margins or only get out a handful of times each year. A 16m package is a bigger commitment, and you’ll need room to store and transport the pole safely. For the keen angler, though, the range and ready-to-go kit are properly useful.

Quick answers

The bits anglers usually want to know

What topkits are supplied? You get six altogether: three R-Series Powerlite topkits and three R-Series Commercial Power topkits. That spread is designed to cover lighter fishing and more powerful commercial carp work.

What’s the maximum range? The pole reaches 16m. You don’t have to fish it at full length every time, of course. The advantage is having that extra reach when the swim demands it, while fishing shorter when that gives better control.

Is a cupping kit included? Yes. The package includes an R-Series cupping kit, plus a 16m mini section or extension and protective storage in the form of a pole protection case or MV-R tube holdall.
