We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Newbury on Live River Levels

The lowdown
- A named River Kennet venue on RTAA’s waters, so you know exactly where you stand. It’s run by Reed Thatcham Angling Association and available to association members.
- The holder doesn’t publish the stretch length or peg count. Same goes for named fish species, so there’s no made-up list of likely targets here.
- Parking is at Thatcham Football Club. Use the gravel area just inside the entrance on the right — not somewhere else on the site.
- Display a current-season permit clearly inside the vehicle. Members also need to carry photographic identification and their annual permit while fishing.
- There are overhead cables at the venue, with restrictions signposted. Have a proper look around before setting up and keep clear of the marked areas.
- Fishing is by rod and line only. Poles are not permitted at the Arrowhead, so leave the pole kit at home and keep things simple.
- A suitable knotless, non-metallic landing net must be ready before fishing. Baited rods can’t be left unattended, and live fish bait is banned.
- You can use no more than two rods at once. Hooks size 16 and larger must be barbless; smaller hooks can be micro- or whisker-barbed.
- Junior members must be accompanied by a senior member. Every angler also needs a current Environment Agency rod licence, so get that sorted before the first cast.
Methods: The Arrowhead is rod-and-line-only, with a maximum of two rods. Poles aren’t permitted, and baited rods must not be left unattended.
