The full rundown on Emberton Park Lakes

Emberton Park Lakes sits inside Emberton Country Park, just outside Olney in Buckinghamshire. The official address is Emberton Country Park, Olney Road, Emberton, MK46 5FJ. It’s a sizeable park venue made up of four named lakes, with the River Great Ouse also fishable within the grounds.

Grebe Lake and Heron Water are the two biggest waters here. Otter Pool is a smaller lake, split from Heron Water by a path and natural area, while Snipe Pool is a smaller, tree-lined pool in the conservation area. That gives you a fair bit of choice for a day on the bank, from the larger waters to quieter-looking corners.

The listed lake species are perch, roach, pike, bream, carp and tench. Other angling references report barbel, chub and dace around the wider Emberton venue, particularly relevant if you’re eyeing up the river. Tactics will depend on the water in front of you, but float work, feeder fishing and margin approaches should all be worth considering where the swim allows.

Lake fishing is available all year round, while the River Great Ouse has a statutory closed season from 15 March to 16 June. All fish must be returned alive, and lines can’t be left unattended. Lead shot is also banned for line weighting, so pack suitable alternatives before setting off.

Tickets are available at the park Gatehouse. Adult day tickets are £10.00, with OAP and junior tickets at £5.00. Juniors are defined as ages 12 to 16, and children under 12 fish free. Seven-day tickets are £40.00 for adults and £20.00 for OAPs and juniors. These day and week tickets are no-night-fishing tickets.

Season tickets run from April 2026 to March 2027, starting at £60.00 for adults or £40.00 for OAPs and juniors when bought for April. The price reduces depending on the month you start. You’ll need to show an Environment Agency Rod Licence at the Gatehouse, and a park entry ticket is extra.

The park has car parking, toilets, a café near the entrance and walking trails around the lakes. Accessible fishing facilities and specially adapted fishing pegs are available too. Vehicle access without an access fob is limited to 06:00–20:00, so check the permitted fishing times for your month and avoid a last-minute faff at the gate.
