Bigsweir to Llandogo (Station, Florence, Pilstone, Rocks, Llandogo, Netting Station beats)
A proper Wye stretch from below Bigsweir Bridge down to behind the Sloop Inn at Llandogo, run by Newport Angling Association. It’s tidal, changeable and built around barbel and chub fishing, with a cracking mix of fast shallows and deeper water.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- This is a leased salmon fishery, covering the water from two fields above Wyeseal Farm downstream towards Llandogo.
- The named areas include Station, Florence, Pilstone, Rocks, Llandogo and Netting Station, though the club doesn’t detail each beat separately.
- It’s tidal water, so levels can wobble about and the river may look very different from one session to the next.
- Depths range from quick, shallow runs to holes around 8 feet. Plenty to keep you looking for the crease.
- Float tackle and feeder work are the usual approaches for barbel and chub. Keep an eye on the pace and fish the steadier water.
- The season runs from 18 October to 2 March, and the stated season also includes Tump Farm.
- Parking is available at the Old Station area south of, and on the right bank below, Bigsweir Bridge. There’s also parking by the Wyeseal Farm track and at Tump Farm.
- Only use the indicated parking spots. Other spaces are limited, and your membership card needs to be visible on the dashboard.
- This is a fishery with salmon anglers using the water, so give way to them at all times. A bit of courtesy goes a long way.
- All fish must be returned. Salmon and trout go straight back, while spinning isn’t allowed. Live-baiting with dace or bleak caught from the water is permitted.
Methods: Float and feeder are the club’s usual methods for barbel and chub. Fish the changes in pace, from the fast shallows into the deeper, steadier water.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
