Lower Moor

Lower Moor is a proper rural Warwickshire Avon stretch in Worcestershire, with around half a mile of right-bank fishing. It’s a mixed coarse water with depths reaching 10 feet and a nice spread of bream, chub, roach, pike and zander.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • You get roughly half a mile of bank here, all from the right bank. Plenty of room to explore rather than sitting on one swim all day.
  • The river runs through a rural floodplain, with fields between the access track and the water. A cracking setting, but it can get properly wet underfoot in winter.
  • Average depths are up to 10 feet, so there’s enough water for a bit of everything. Expect natural mixed coarse fishing rather than a manic commercial-style chuck.
  • Bream, chub and roach are the main coarse draw. The stretch is also considered good for pike and zander, so there’s a cheeky predator option when conditions line up.
  • The access has a locked gate, then a fence and stile between the car park and river. Travel light — no need to lug half the tackle shop across there.
  • When the fields flood, don’t battle straight through. Detour around the field edges to reach the river and save yourself a proper faff.
  • For coarse anglers, trotting or feeder work should suit the mixed river character. Pick a glide or crease and look for depth, steadier flow and anything that gives the fish cover.
  • A bit of colour and extra water should be worth watching, especially for chub and predators. In lower, clearer conditions, a more careful approach is likely the bob-on call.
  • There’s no night fishing, and the river close season runs from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. Plan visits between 16 June and 14 March.
  • The car park is reached from Bridge Street in Lower Moor. The official parking postcode is WR10 2PL, with the approach via the A44, Cherry Orchard Road and Bridge Street.

Methods: A light trotting or feeder setup should cover the mixed coarse fishing, with chub, roach and bream in mind. Pike and zander give you another angle when the river has a bit of colour and movement.

Key rules

  • Members only; unauthorised people must not fish Association waters.
  • A valid Environment Agency rod licence is required.
  • No fishing from 15 March to 15 June inclusive because of the river close season.
  • No fishing is permitted at night.
  • Keep the access gate closed and locked. Do not leave it open or unlocked.
  • Use the gate-lock code supplied on the BAA membership card.
  • When fields flood, detour around the field edges to reach the river.
  • Travel light because of the fence and stile between the car park and river.

Coarse fishing on English rivers is closed from 15 March to 15 June inclusive. That's the law for coarse fish on rivers — it's not a club rule, and game-fishing seasons work differently.
