Dowles is Kidderminster & District Angling Association’s Severn stretch running from Dowles Brook downstream towards Bewdley town. There’s day-ticket fishing on pegs 52–70, with the final two pegs kept for members.

Weir and Capps Field — River Trent Dyke, Newark

Weir and Capps Field is a cracking-looking mix of shallow runs, weed beds and deeper pools on Newark’s non-tidal Trent Dyke. Newark and District Piscatorial Federation runs this roughly 600-metre stretch, with barbel, chub and the occasional carp named.

River Severn – West Diglis, Worcester

West Diglis is Worcester Angling Society’s Severn stretch from the fence beside Diglis Bridge down to the Teme mouth. Large barbel, chub and bream are the headline draw, but the steep banks mean picking your swim needs a bit of care.

Power Station — River Trent and upper Trent Dyke, Farndon

Power Station at Farndon gives you a choice of non-tidal Trent and upper Trent Dyke, with 36 pegs run by Newark and District Piscatorial Federation. Day tickets are £6 per person, with parking behind the pegs and a proper winter option to keep in mind.

Winnall is Kidderminster & District Angling Association’s members-only Lower Severn water, three miles below Stourport. There’s proper flow from Lincombe weir upstream, a gravel bed and published depths of 6–12 feet.

Midland Angling Society’s Caythorpe–Hoveringham fishery offers 140 River Trent pegs, with pleasure and match fishing both on the menu. Day tickets are £5, and parking beside 19 roadside pegs makes that section a handy option.

Ribbesford is a deeper, slower-flowing bit of the Worcestershire Severn run by Birmingham Anglers Association. There’s a proper mix of fish named here, with late-season fishing getting a special mention and reported pike to 30 lb below the football pitch.

Winthorpe is Newark and District Piscatorial Federation’s 32-peg stretch on the non-tidal Trent, popular with anglers after carp and barbel. Night fishing and parking behind every peg make it a handy option for a longer session, but there are no public day tickets.

Hazelford Upper Weir is a 15-peg River Trent stretch run by Nottingham and District Federation of Angling Societies. There’s day-ticket access for non-members, with stick-float fishing for roach and feeder fishing in stronger flows on the menu.

Grimley is Birmingham Anglers Association’s bit of the Middle Severn downstream of Holt Fleet Bridge, where the river widens and deepens. Chub, barbel and a resident shoal of large bream give you plenty to think about over a brew.

Gunthorpe — Penton’s Field, River Trent

Penton’s Field is Nottingham and District Federation of Angling Societies’ water in the second meadow below Gunthorpe Lock on the Middle Trent. There’s a cracking choice between float fishing for silvers and feeder tactics for bigger fish, with day tickets available to non-members.

Finding somewhere to fish near you

Every listing tells you the stuff you actually need before you load the car: what's in each lake or stretch, whether it's a day ticket, club or syndicate water, the house rules and what a ticket costs when we last checked. Rules and prices change, so always give the fishery or club a quick shout before you go.
Rivers, canals and stillwaters fish completely differently. Lakes reward a bit of watercraft and steady feeding; rivers are all about flow, depth and level, so we show live river levels where we can.
