Glanrhyd Towy Water

Glanrhyd is the association’s Llangadog Towy Water on the middle reaches of the River Tywi, right in the heart of the Towy valley. It’s a day-ticket stretch run by Cymdeithas Pysgota Llandeilo Angling Association, with the nearby Glanrhyd Railway Bridge a handy reference point.

The lowdown

  • This water is listed separately from the club’s Llandeilo Bridge beat, so make sure you book the right stretch before setting off.
  • The association looks after more than 7 miles of River Towy fishing across its waters, with Glanrhyd forming part of the Llangadog offering.
  • Access comes through the club’s access-and-parking information page. Follow that carefully and don’t assume every route or gate works the same way.
  • There’s a proper bit of local geography here: the nearby Glanrhyd Railway Bridge gives you a useful marker for finding the water.
  • This is Tywi country — a river known for sewin, salmon and brown trout. A cracking setting in the Towy valley, with the village of Llangadog close by.
  • Day tickets run for 24 hours from purchase, which is handy if you want to make a proper session of it rather than squeeze in a quick few hours.
  • If you fancy a longer stay, the adult weekly ticket lasts seven days from purchase. Bob on for a few days exploring the association’s waters.
  • Keep things sporting and polite on the bank. Carry your permit, shut railway and other gates behind you, and don’t take a vehicle across a farmer’s land without permission.
  • There are firm conservation rules around salmon and sewin. All salmon go back, sea trout over 60 centimetres are released, and any sewin caught after 1 September must be returned.
  • Dogs aren’t allowed on association waters. Fishing is rod and line only, and deadbaiting with live bait or lures is prohibited under the club rules.

Methods: The club’s associated fishing information names brown trout, sea trout/sewin and Atlantic salmon. Stick to rod-and-line fishing and check the current rules before setting up.
