Manor Farm, Wasperton

Manor Farm at Wasperton is BAA membership-only water on the Warwickshire Avon. It’s a shallow, weedy and reed-fringed coarse stretch, with deeper water downstream and a proper mix of chub, roach, perch, pike, barbel and the odd trout.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is a cracking bit of Avon with a fairly shallow feel in places, so don’t expect a uniform deep channel all the way through.
  • The upstream section gets properly busy with weed and reed growth in summer. That can make swims a bit fiddly, but it also gives the fish plenty of cover.
  • Downstream is where the deeper water is, so it’s worth having a good look before settling into the first tempting peg.
  • The BAA reckons light float tackle is suitable for the named species. Nice and simple — ideal for working likely water rather than lugging loads of kit.
  • Chub, roach, perch, pike and barbel are named for the stretch, with occasional trout also reported by the rights holder.
  • Vehicles can be driven along the river bank to chosen pegs when conditions allow. Handy, though the bank can turn rutted and muddy after wet weather.
  • There’s an upstream car park at the official coordinates, postcode CV35 8EB. The downstream car park is reached from the village T-junction, turning left and then almost immediately right.
  • Access is via Wasperton village and a track beside a Private Road sign. Follow the approach instructions and close gates on the access tracks as directed.
  • Summer weed and reeds will shape the approach, while the deeper downstream water gives you another option when the shallow areas look awkward or heavily choked.
  • Night fishing is expressly prohibited here, so this one is strictly a daylight session. The BAA handbook has the fuller maps, access routes and parking detail.

Methods: Light float tackle is the main approach mentioned for this stretch, suited to working the shallower runs, weed edges and reed-fringed cover. Check the deeper downstream water too, especially when the upstream section is heavily grown in.
