We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready

The lowdown

  • This is BAA water near the confluence of the River Arrow and River Avon. A proper two-river setting, with the main stretch on the Avon and a shorter Arrow section included.
  • The fishing runs for approximately three-quarters of a mile. The River Arrow section adds roughly 150 yards to the venue.
  • All fishing is on the right bank of the River Avon. The stretch starts below the mouth of the River Arrow.
  • BAA names chub, roach, perch, barbel and gudgeon here. Occasional tench and bream are also recorded, so there is a decent mix of species on the books.
  • BAA describes Salford Priors as a good contest venue. That makes it one for anglers who enjoy an organised match-style setting rather than a totally wild, untamed bit of river.
  • Access is from Salford via Abbots Salford. You follow a service road, cross a field and reach the BAA car park at the end of the track.
  • Take care with the access track. It can become deeply rutted and impassable in wet weather, and BAA says not to use it unless you are confident you will not get stuck.
  • This is members-only water, with no day tickets available. Current BAA members or authorised persons are the only anglers allowed to fish the association waters.
  • Keep your BAA membership card with you while fishing. You will also need the appropriate Environment Agency rod licence.
  • Night fishing is not permitted at Salford Priors, and BAA night permits are not listed for this stretch.

Methods: BAA describes the venue as a good contest stretch. The named mix of chub, roach, perch, barbel, gudgeon, occasional tench and bream gives it plenty of match-style interest.
