Parsonage Farm – River Avon
Parsonage Farm is a cracking half-mile club-only stretch of the River Avon in Wiltshire, run by Salisbury & District Angling Club. It forms part of the wider one-and-a-half-mile Avon fishery with Town Water, but don’t mix the ticket arrangements up.

We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open Salisbury Ashley Road on Live River Levels

The lowdown
- This is proper chalk-stream river fishing, with the clean, lively feel you’d expect from the Avon around Salisbury.
- The Parsonage Farm section runs for approximately half a mile. It sits within the larger Avon fishery, which includes the separate Town Water section.
- The river here has a useful mix of flowing runs, steady glides and deeper pools. Plenty to explore rather than just one sort of swim.
- Both banks are available where stated for the combined fishery. Check the club’s own fishery details before setting off so you’re clear on the exact access.
- The coarse list includes roach, dace, chub and pike, with grayling also present in the fishery. Specimen roach over 2 lb are a real possibility on the adjoining Avon water.
- That gives you a nice spread of options, from watching the flow for roach and dace to picking out deeper water where chub and pike may be hanging about.
- The club manages both fly-fishing and coarse-fishing waters across its wider portfolio. Parsonage Farm is part of that Avon and tributary setup.
- This is club fishing only. Parsonage Farm day tickets aren’t advertised, so there’s no cheeky turn-up-and-pay arrangement here.
- Town Water does offer day tickets, but it is a separate fishery. Make sure your permission covers Parsonage Farm before you fish.
- The nearest well-known settlement is Salisbury, and the stretch is in the Salisbury area rather than Hampshire proper. The club publishes the current fishery information and rules on its website.
- We're not sure on ticket prices for this one — check with the club or local regulations before you leave.
Methods: The water is managed for both fly-fishing and coarse-fishing across the club’s portfolio. On this Avon stretch, the runs, glides and deeper pools offer the sort of varied river water suited to working out the flow with the appropriate coarse or fly approach.
