We don't publish an "ideal level" — nobody can promise one. Flood water is dangerous: if it's up and coloured, stay well back from the edge. Open River Ready
The lowdown
- Pensham sits within the BAA’s Pershore L/B, R/B & Pensham fishery on the River Avon, also known as the Warwickshire Avon.
- Compared with Pershore, this stretch is deeper and slower. That gives it a calmer feel, with the sort of water where bream can really settle.
- BAA identifies bream as the main species at Pensham. Pike and zander are also named as present, so there’s a bit more going on than just a bag of silver fish.
- The exact number of pegs isn’t given, but BAA recorded peg clearing and rebuilding work at Pensham in 2025. Handy stuff for keeping the swims fishable.
- Access is through Pensham village. After crossing Pershore Bridge towards Evesham, take the immediate right signposted Pensham.
- At the village T-junction, turn right and follow the track to the BAA car park. The listed postcode is WR10 3HB, with coordinates 52.099590, -2.088705.
- Do shut and lock every access gate behind you. It’s one of those small jobs that keeps the place running smoothly for everyone.
- Night fishing is specifically banned at Pensham, so this is a daylight-only job. You’ll also need valid BAA membership or other applicable permission before setting up.
- The rules require legal methods and equipment, a valid permit, and the release of all fish back into the water. Keep litter under control and follow the vehicle requirements on the fishing grounds.
Methods: Stick to legal fishing methods and equipment under the BAA rules. With deeper, slower water and bream as the main species, Pensham is clearly geared towards careful daylight coarse fishing.
